Hybrid cars can use two or more power sources to make the vehicle move. It includes the internal engine and in addition uses one or multiple electric motors. The entire concept of hybrid vehicles has been invented with the idea of saving more petrol. The power sources used by these hybrid cars include electricity, solar energy, compressed air, radio waves, hydrogen, liquid nitrogen, coal, wood or other combustible substances and the waste heat generated from the internal engine.
The best thing about hybrid cars is probably the low emission rates from these vehicles. Most of the times, natural resources are used that are either recycled or cause minimal pollution. The emission rates are most of the times within or even below than the acceptable levels given by the Environmental Protection Agency, that is within 5.5 metric tons of Carbon dioxide. In addition to these, hybrid cars also reduce the amount of smog forming agents in the atmosphere.

DYI car waxing tips
Filed Under Car Improvement & Maintenance | Leave a Comment
These days you need to wax your car often due to the rising amount of dust and pollution. It is definitely not a good idea or sending the car to a garage or hiring a person every time to get this done. It is best to do it yourself!
You can make a homemade car wax by mixing beeswax, carnauba wax, turpentine and pine oil. All these are easily available at any super market. You just need to get the proportions right. 2 tablespoons of molten beeswax goes into 8 ounces of carnauba wax. Allow this mixture to cool down and add 16 ounces of turpentine and a tablespoon of pine oil. Be extremely careful that no abrasive agents are getting mixed to this solution. This can now be used as any readymade wax.
Before you start waxing, clean the exterior and make it free from dust and grime. Remove abrasive particles if any. Use a sponge and damp it before you start applying it onto the car.

Myths related to electric cars
Filed Under Electric Cars | Leave a Comment
Electric cars were introduced as a mainstream car. But it has some myths about it. Often you may hear people say that most of the electric cars can be recharged at home. The reality is that most of the cars can be charged with a low-cost 220V outlet. Also you can charge them overnight but not more than that if you are driving daily. This does not mean that you can charge the car once and for all in a day and use it without charging it for two days or more.
Once you have charged overnight, the car can run a maximum of 40miles and not 100miles like you may hear. You may have heard that some business stations will install charging stations so that it is easy for customers to charge their cars if suddenly required. Truth is only McDonalds and Whole Foods will do this and not any other companies. It is also a misconception that you need expensive equipment and a special plug to charge an electric car.

It’s a must to take the car for a test drive. The road test enables you to verify its essential components such as accelerator, brakes, etc. Switch the radio off while driving so that you can check any abnormal sounds from the car like scraping, whining or clunks. In case of any such sound it’s better to shift. Always get a reputed professional mechanic while investigating the car who will easily pick out the potential problems which are otherwise unknown or confusing to a lay man.
Make a point to get the CARFAX report of the selected car. It offers a vivid description on the car’s history including its past owners, previous mileage, recalls, service records, accidents and more.
